Hi,
I purchased and installed Split Personality (on Windows Vista Home Premium, SP2, Outlook 2007, SP2) today.
Unfortunately, i did the install prior to reading the instruction to disable UAC before installing.
i tried to "re-purchase" and use the Register button but receive an error message:
Access violation at address 05FD9212 in module ‘SPLITP~1.DLL’ . Read of address FFFFFFFF.
Your advice is appreciated.
thanks,

There are a number of reasons why this could have happened, but typically the error you are seeing is due to the user account you are logging in with having limited read/write privileges to the DLL file that is installed when the Split Personality installer is run. Windows will elevate installers to have 'admin rights' to perform their installations, but after they are finished it returns the user account security privileges back to the basic level, and clearly the account you have used for this is being limited in terms of executing the DLL.
The best thing you can do is a complete uninstall of SplitPersonality, then re-install it again. If you get it to run in trial mode successfully, then we should simply be able to apply the unlock file again, after you have turned off UAC, and it should work.
Note that since Split Personality is loaded as a DLL with Outlook 2007, you have to be absolutely sure that Outlook is not running when you do the uninstall. Outlook has a nasty habit of running in the background although you may think you shut it down, so I would do the following to ensure a clean uninstall:
1. Turn off UAC on the computer
2. Shut down your computer and reboot from cold start
3. Don't run Outlook but immediately uninstall the software from Control Panels
4. Then reboot the computer again
5. Download the installer from www.outlooksplitpersonality.com again, and re-install it
6. Then try and start Outlook and see if it reverts to trial mode but operates ok
7. Assuming it does this, then follow the instructions at http://www.techsolusa.com/tsn_unlockinstructions.html to get a new unlock file from us. Email us at info@techsolusa.com to tell us you are doing this, so we know to expect the notification of purchase.
8. We'll send you back a new unlock file manually
9. Then you can register the software with that unlock file and it should work ok
Vista can be nasty with its UAC handling, and thankfully this has gotten a lot better with Windows 7. However it should work ok if your security privileges are able to allow it to access the files it needs.
